Dec 8, 2021 · The 0w30 motor oil is a special kind of motor oil. This motor oil has a low viscosity, and this motor oil can also be used as a replacement for a 5w30 motor or 10w30 motor oil. For the 5w20 motor oil, the twenty indicates that the motor oil has a low viscosity and is also thinner in high temperatures. Because of the viscosity, the 5w20 motor
Aug 24, 2013 · Aug 24, 2013. #3. Odd, I'm running a 0w30 GC / 5w20 gtx HM mix myself in one of my mowers that calls for 10w30. Just because the motor is small doesn't mean a thin oil is better. Remember a powerful engine like the mustang 5.0 can even run on 5w20. Your mix is a little thin, but both are high quality oils.
Jan 27, 2013 · The 2014 truck engines have been completely redesigned. I am sure the main reason is fuel economy though. Ford and Toyota have been using the 5W-20 and 0W-20 oils for several years now with no adverse effects.
Hey everyone! I have a 2021 GMC Canyon - 3.6L V6, the manufacturer recommendation is to use 5W30 (even says so right on top of the engine). I got my oil change at a GMC dealer and upon looking at the invoice they used 0W20. From my basic understanding the 0W20 will preform better in colder months but where I live it will never drop below 0° F.
0W motor oils (0W-20) are suitable for use in 5W applications because the 20 refer to the viscosity measurement value. That value is the one most critical aspect to match when selecting a motor oil. The 0W or 5W refers to the pumpability in cold temperatures. Therefore, a 0W would flow more easily than a 5W and could be an acceptable substitute.
Feb 24, 2021 · Yes, sadly, the vast majority of this cars driving will be short trips well under 30 minutes. No doubt the 0W20 would be the totally logical choice overall. -and I will certainly be doing frequent oil changes for several reasons, not the least of which is to combat possible fuel dilution, crankcase condensation, possible corrosion and whatever
Nov 9, 2022 · That’s why nearly every BMW owner’s manual will recommend to use “BMW synthetic” oil. What happens if you use 5W-20 instead of 0W-20? Viscosity. The smaller the number, the better the motor oil will flow. A 0W20 will be more fluid than a 5W20 at startup temperatures but will perform the same way at standard engine operating temperatures.
